Manoj Bajpayee deletes a tweet where he took a dig at Akshay Kumar. Find out why

Did Manoj Bajpayee take a dig at Akshay Kumar’s ‘big-hearted’ move to postpone PadMan?

Akshay Kumar with Manoj Bajpayee

A few hours back, Akshay Kumar had called for a press conference at his home where he announced that Pad Man will not be releasing on January 25; instead the movie will come out on February 9. This move has given a clear field to Padmaavat, who really needed the lack of competition to get a good start at the box office. Why, even Padmaavat director Sanjay Leela Bhansali got out of his self-imposed exile (something he had gone into after the Padmaavatcontroversy turned aggressive) to drop at Akshay Kumar’s press conference and thanked the superstar for his ‘magnanimous’ gesture. Even the lead stars, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor thanked Akshay Kumar on Twitter. Also read: Akshay Kumar backs up Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat release – watch video

While many have praised Akshay Kumar for leaving the field open for Padmaavat, there are others who feel it is a shrewd move by the superstar so as to not get underwhelmed by the competition or be the collateral damage in the protests against Padmaavat. And then there are others who feel Akshay was scared of competition and hence postponed the movie.

A journalist, Mr Ajay Brahmatmaj was of this opinion as he tweeted out the below, where his tweet (in Hindi) implied that ‘under the fear of getting crushed, you moved and then you say we gave way for others’. Though he has neither mentioned Akshay Kumar or Pad Man, Twitterati was smart enough to know where his barb was thrown at. And interestingly, Manoj Bajpayee had retweeted the tweet (he later deleted it) with a happy smiley.

As you know, Manoj Bajpayee’s Aiyaary was supposed to come out on January 26 and was earlier supposed to clash with Pad Man. Then Padmaavat came into picture and the Neeraj Pandey directed movie (co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet) had to move to February 9, where it will now clash with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. However with the new development, Aiyaary will now again clash with Padman. We are sure the makers of this spy thriller might be completely annoyed with the constant date shuffling. Also read: Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary ready to compete with Padmaavat, but not PadMan?

In other news, there is a rumour that Aiyaary will now return to its original release date of coming out on January 26, even it means clashing with Padmaavat.
